Role Description: Community Development Practitioner
The Community Development Practitioner will engage with local communities to foster holistic transformation by building relationships, identifying needs, and empowering individuals and groups to develop sustainable solutions. This role emphasizes equipping, collaboration and discipleship to see individuals and communities flourish spiritually, socially and economically.
The role is designed for an individual or couple with strong communication skills and a heart for
ministry, education, and cross-cultural service.
This role will serve as a practical connector – facilitating short-term teams from
abroad, supporting donor and partner communications, contributing to reporting, and
functioning as a relationship bridge between FFI and The Alliance Canada. They will also
directly serve our vocational students through English (ESL) and life skills teaching.
Responsibilities
Community Development Practitioner
Key Responsibilities:
- Build trust and relationships within local communities
- Plan and implement relief initiatives that provide immediate care while promoting dignity and hope.
- Design and support long-term development projects that build community resilience and sustainability.
- Equip and mentor local leaders to carry forward initiatives.
- Integrate biblical principles and discipleship into all relief and development efforts.
- Partner with churches, NGOs, governments, and community stakeholders to expand their impact.
- Monitor and evaluate programs to ensure effectiveness and alignment with mission goals.
Qualifications:
- Experience in relief work, international development, humanitarian aid, or related fields.
- Strong project management and cross-cultural skills.
- Ability to respond effectively in crisis and post-crisis contexts.
- Passion for holistic mission and serving vulnerable populations.
- Collaborative, adaptable, and resilient under pressure.

District Licensing Requirements
Non-Portable: Successful completion of the approval process. Commitment to the successful completion of the Alliance History and Thought course for credit within one year. Commitment to the successful completion of the Foundations for Ministry Certificate or its equivalent, as determined by the licensing authority, within a reasonable time frame. Commitment to the fulfillment of other licensing conditions established from time to time by the licensing authority.
