Current Priorities
We are launching a new team in Southern Thailand, based out of Songkhla province. We are building relationships with our Buddhist and Muslim neighbours with the hope of sharing the Good News with them. We desire to build up Thai churches in our area and mobilize them to reach their neighbours.
Vision
“For this is what the Lord has commanded us: “ ‘I have made you a light for the Gentiles, that you may bring salvation to the ends of the earth.’ ”(Acts 13:47)
Bio
Derek grew up in Markham, Ontario. Even though he attended church since he was a child, he did not make his own faith commitment to Christ until he was eleven. During his high school years, he developed a passion for law, but God changed all that in his senior year, replacing it with a burden for missions. On May 1, 1988, at a missions conference, he responded to God’s invitation to serve as an international worker.
Bonnie grew up in South East Asia, born in Vietnam to C&MA missionary parents, but did her schooling in Philippines (after Vietnam fell) and Malaysia. She can’t remember a day when she didn’t believe in God, but she didn’t know God like the way her parents did, until she was a freshman at Canadian Bible College when God met her in a significant way.
Derek and Bonnie met at CBC and have been married since 1993. They have three kids, Carlin, Jesse, and Jemma and have served in Thailand since 1999.
